State Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rahman said that strengthening and enhancing the outreach of social safety nets for poor of the poorest is top most priority of the government. Addressing an inaugural ceremony of computer lab in Women Empowerment Centre (WEC) of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), she said that PBM’s role to assist the vulnerable segments for their economic uplift and social prosperity is highly commendable. Minister for CADD Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, MD PBM Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh and CEO Universal Service Fund Harris were also present on the occasion. She said that provision of modern IT labs would enable the young girls of these centers to meet the challenges of modern world besides skill training to economically empower the women. Wishing for bright future of the students, she advised them to work hard to get equipped with the modern technologies to become economically stable and self reliant. Minister for CADD Tariq Fazal Chaudhry appreciated MD PBM for playing a dynamic role towards women empowerment through information technology and other contemporary skills in WECs. Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director Pakistan Bait ul Mal (PBM), Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh said that PBM is taking practical measures for materializing present Government’s will for extending maximum support to the deprived persons of Pakistan. Managing Director PBM informed that there are 154 WECs currently rendering services for women empowerment throughout the country including AJK & Gilgit Baltistan and during last four years all these centers have been revamped and modern technologies are being introduced here for meeting the challenges of modern world. Barrister Abid told that currently around 11000 trainees are registered and since now around 160,000 poor and deserving women have been benefitted from these centres. PBM is establishing computer labs in collaboration with Ministry of IT and Universal Service Fund while Microsoft is providing training to the teachers of WECs. He also admired the efforts of state minister for Information Technology Anusha Rahman to support PBM for establishing computer labs in WECs.
