Turkish Envoy in Pakistan, H.E İhsan Mustafa Yurdakul visits ‘Panahgah’ in Sector G-9/4, Islamabad, along with the country coordinator of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Gokhan Umut. Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar gave a detailed briefing to the honorable guests and took them in various parts of the centre.
Giving an overview about the facilities in Panahgah, Managing Director PBM told that daily wagers and poor persons are having dinner, night stay, breakfast and lunch in neat and clean environment. He informed that on the directions of Prime Minister of Pakistan, such centres are being established in every province of the country. So far, PBM has established 19 ‘Panahgah’ centres throughout the country, while, under the umbrella of Prime Minister’s Ehsaas Programme, the expansion plan of this project is going to be executed on fast track. Managing Director PBM told that up till now, 2.500 million beneficiaries have been provided the services in Panahgahs; 2.351 million people have been provided meals and shelter while 145,630 persons have been served breakfast.
Malik Zaheer Abbas also expressed his gratitude to Turkish Ambassador for showing deep concern for the marginalized segments of the country. He said the brotherly relationships between Pakistan and Turkey are based on respect and care for each other. He also acknowledged the remarkable humanitarian services of TIKA in Pakistan, under the leadership of Gokhan Umut.
Turkey’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul appreciated the initiative of ‘Panahgah’ for accommodating the vulnerable community. He also vowed to work jointly with PBM in Social Protection Area. Managing Director PBM and Turkish Envoy also had the lunch with the beneficiaries over there and cut a cake also.
