Managing Director of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh has underlined the significance of empowering women through information and communication skills. He articulated these views in an opening ceremony of computer training workshop for the trainers of PBM’s Women Empowerment Centers. He evinced his commitment to provide ICT knowledge-based social Infrastructure which can be of great help for women to evade marginalization. MD PBM told that under PBM’s recent MoU with Ministry of Information Technology, Universal Service Fund and Microsoft, modern computer labs are going to be established initially in 50 Women Empowerment Centers out of 157. In this eight days computer training workshop, Microsoft will provide the training facilities free of charge. Following that, WEC computer instructors from other districts will also be equipped with ICT skills in the same way. Barrister Abid Waheed also laid emphasis on collaborative efforts for empowering women of the country through ICT, education, poverty alleviation and employment generation.
