Managing Director of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh has said that the minorities in the country have given a considerable contribution to different fields in the society and their commendable services along with Muslims, is a glorious chapter in the history of the independence movement of Pakistan. He was talking to an inaugural event on “Quaid’s vision for Minorities: Challenges & opportunities”. He said that Observance of Minorities Day is an occasion to recognize the distinguished role played by the minorities in nation-building and sacrifices rendered by them. He told that Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal has been providing maximum relief to our poor country fellows irrespective of their religion, age, gender, race, creed, and political affiliation. PBM is combating multidimensional issues of poverty like hunger, illness, disability, illiteracy and other thorny issues associated with the vulnerable populace of the society. PBM is providing socio-economic rights to the minorities of Pakistan by serving them in the field of healthcare, education, women empowerment, and rehabilitation and so on. Addressing on the occasion, he said that establishment of a National Human Rights Commission is a much-needed step by the present Government, it is now the responsibility of Commission to be able to assist the people of Pakistan, who face violations of their rights.
